Home and Room Interest

The Big Picture Start by asking yourself how you want to feel when you're in the room, and how you want to use it. These questions might seem obvious, but they're essential. Answer them, and think of your response as the mission statement for your room.
Set the background tone. The deep blue paint on these walls makes a great backdrop for the fabrics and woods of this furniture. The ceiling paint, a light hue with yellow undertones, mirrors the beech wood and gives the room a warm glow.
Place flooring so it helps divide the room into different functions. In the home shown here, a large rug defines the sitting area, while a smaller, bright-color carpet accents the dining niche under the bay window.
Use subtle elements to tie the spaces back together. The rugs overlap, like the floor of a desert tent. The coffee table and sofa fabric feature colors of the same intensity. The blue dining table and alternating blue doors on the storage cabinet exemplify how colors repeat around the room. These cues unify the space even though it's clearly defined for different functions.

Living Room

When arranging furniture in a living room, one easy way to begin is with the focal point. Think of it as an anchor for the room and place furniture directly in front of this important design element.
See the floorplan below and read our furniture placement tips to get ideas for arranging pieces in a multipurpose room.

Find a focal point -- a fireplace, a large window, or an entertainment center -- and build the furniture design around it. The focal point should be anchored to a wall. Move your furniture away from the walls to create an intimate grouping.
Place chairs no more than 8 feet apart to encourage conversation.
Position a table within reach of every seating piece. If possible, place a lamp near each seating area.
Allow ample legroom by placing the coffee table 14 to 18 inches from the sofa.
Choose side tables that are about as tall as the arm of the chair or sofa they are serving.
Create traffic lanes that are several feet wide to allow easy movement through the room.

Relaxing Retreat

It has been said that a house that does not have one warm, comfy chair in it is soulless.
Most homeowners have discovered this fact on their own: Witness the way families tend to spend relaxing downtime together on the cushioned sofas and overstuffed armchairs in the typical family room.
But the standard seating formula -- one sofa, two matching or complementary armchairs, and a coffee table in the middle -- is not necessarily the best way to create intimacy or accommodate your family's interests and needs.
What if your kids are young, and you need a cozier, more casual setup for snuggling while reading bedtime stories or watching videos? What if you have teenagers who enjoy entertaining large groups of friends at one time?

Type of flower pot

Flower and Flower pot are generally used to decorate home and room decoration. There are different type and shape of pots available to keep in room.

Right Types of Pot on looking on plants and its' need.

The type of pot you use has an effect on how often you need to water. If you use plastic pots, you will need to water less often than if your plants are in unglazed clay pots.

Unglazed clay pots allow water to evaporate through the clay. If the pot is glazed, then treat it like a plastic pot. Glazed clay or ceramic pots are usually much more expensive than unglazed clay pots, or plastic pots (which are the cheapest of all). You can buy pots at nurseries, hardware stores, or supermarkets.

Indoor Flower pots

Flower pots come in many different styles, shapes, sizes, and materials. Plastic and clay are the most common materials used for indoor flower pots. Plant containers can also be made from metal, wood, resin, fiberglass, and concrete. The different styles include self-watering pots, wall planters, hanging baskets, and pots made from recycled materials such as coffee cans.

Plastic flower pots are the least expensive and the most lightweight. The majority of plastic indoor flower pots are round, although they are also available in square and rectangular shapes. Many plastic pots come with an attached tray for drainage. Plastic saucers in various diameters are available to catch the water dripping from pots that don’t have a built-in tray. Plants in plastic pots usually don’t need to be watered as often as plants in containers constructed from other materials.

Clay is another popular style of indoor flower pots. The most common materials used for clay pots are earthenware, terra cotta, and ceramic. Clay indoor flower pots with a glazed finish don’t require a drip tray to protect furniture, windowsills, or floors. A saucer should be placed under an unglazed clay pot in order to protect the surface the pot is resting on from water damage. Unglazed clay pots are porous and absorb water, so plants in these pots need to be watered more often.

Hanging baskets are usually round pots made of plastic or clay. They are often shallower than pots that stand on a flat surface. Plastic pots designed as hanging baskets often come with an attached hook so they are ready to be hung from a ceiling or beam. Clay hanging pots and plastic ones without attached hooks can be hung by placing them in a macrame or wire holder made for that purpose. Genuine reed baskets are sometimes used, but they must be lined with plastic to prevent water from dripping onto floors and furniture.

Ceramic Flower Pots

Most ceramic flower pots are glazed. There is a vast variety to choose from to suit your fancy. From the tiny bonsai pots to the giant garden urns, they come in a beautiful array of teals, rich blues, blood reds or even plain brown. Ceramic flower pots are particularly suited to formal gardens and gardens with an Asian theme. The large dragon pots of Asia which contain glorious lotus plants are just an example of how pots can be used to create drama and effect.

As with all large flower pots, when they are filled with soil, they can be hard to move so plan ahead where you want the ceramic flower pot to sit before you put the plant in and fill with potting mix. It is a good idea to put these flower pots on pot movers so that future movement would be more convenient eg when you want to move them out of the harsh sun into a more protected area when on holidays.

You can get a large variety of ceramic flower pots at your local nursery but if you are trying to find good quality bonsai pots then they are harder to come by.

Garden / Outdoor Flower Pots:

Outdoor flower pots are very popular among gardeners who want flowers outside of their homes. The average consumer can be faced with many choices, including pots made out of clay, resin and metal.Heavier plants such as small trees can be planted in flower pots that sit on a dolly with wheels for ease of relocation. Flower pots, therefore, are mainly used to make plants mobile. One special case of flower pot is the 'starter pot' or 'peat pot', a small container made of peat moss.
